Link Age Southwark is very fortunate to have support from a great team of Ambassadors and we have been working with them to produce Lockdown Listens – a series of readings where our actor Ambassadors read a short story or poem. The aim of the readings is to give a morale boost during lockdown. We hope you enjoy these recordings.

Iain Glen’s reading of Rudyard Kipling’s ‘If’

‘If’ is one of the most popular poems of the last century. With its messages of stoicism and humility the poem still offers motivation today, particularly during troubled times.

Lines from the poem are inscribed above the entrance to Centre Court at Wimbledon:

“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same”

The poem encourages us to avoid overconfidence in times of success and to make the best out of challenging situations. It is a timely source of inspiration during lockdown.
