For a number of years now I've been volunteering remotely due to the fact that I don't live in Southwark (or even South London) and have a job which doesn't allow the flexibility to commit to a regular physical volunteering role. Instead, I volunteer digitally, mostly from behind a laptop screen! I appreciate that not everyone has the technical knowledge to be able to do this effectively, but I'm not sure I have the skills to volunteer face-to-face!

My volunteering has ranged from photography and editing for annual reports; proof-reading; designing marketing material including beer mats, presentations, leaflets, posters and online media; and writing/hosting fundraising quizzes (including two Facebook Live quizzes during the COVID-19 lockdown). And all this from the comfort of my sofa!

I like to think in a small way that my role allows the charity to continue helping more 'conventional' volunteers to support older people in Southwark.
