Link Age Southwark’s Ambassador short story readings

We have been working with our Link Age Southwark Ambassadors to produce Lockdown Listens – a series of readings where our actor Ambassadors read a short story or poem.

Jenny Eclair is the first of our Ambassadors to feature in our series Lockdown Listens.

Earlier this month we asked our actor Ambassadors to record themselves reading a short story or poem as a way to boost our morale during the lockdown. Jenny recorded herself reading one of her short stories at home.

Jenny Eclair’s message to you

Jenny says: “I hope you enjoy the story. Look after yourselves. Let’s hope that very soon well be over all this and we can get out and we can enjoy our friends in the sunshine and see people we haven’t seen for some time. Lots of love.”

About the recording

Valerie Lashes Out is a home recording of Jenny reading one of the stories from her collection of short stories Listening In. Some of the stories from Listening In have already been featured on Radio 4, but Valerie Lashes Out, a humorous tale about a volunteer, has not been broadcast previously and was recorded specially for Link Age Southwark.

About Jenny

Jenny is based in south London and has written several novels as well as a collection of short stories. You might recognise her from television shows, including the BBC show Grumpy Old Women, and she is often a panellist on Radio 4’s Just A Minute.
